Monday May 03 2004 14:37:06 PM BDT
The High Court yesterday ordered the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM), Dhaka to release the much-talked about Iman Ali, a three-year-old boy accused in an attempt to murder case, from the bail bond.
A division bench of the High Court comprising Justice Nazmun Ara Sultana and Justice A K M Asaduzzaman also directed the CMM to be more conscious in passing orders.
Following reports published in the national dailies on April 14 that Iman Ali had appeared before the court of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate on April 13 in the arms of his father and had been granted bail upon a bond of Tk 5,000 in a case of attempt to murder, the division bench of the High Court on April 17 last issued a suo moto rule upon the government to show cause as to why the proceedings against Iman Ali should not be quashed.
In the last hearing on April 24 the High Court ordered Anwar Ali, father of Iman Ali and Dulary Begum who filed the case against him to appear before the court on May 2.
Anwar Ali and Dulary Begum yesterday appeared before the court.
