[Bafi-G] Join Us for a Community Dialogue in CHICAGO - July 9, 2005

Dear BAFI members:

South Asian American Leaders of Tomorrow (SAALT) invites BAFI members in the
Chicagoland area to attend a community dialogue on Saturday, July 9, 2005.
The dialogue is part of a series of community meetings [called the SAALT
Exchange] that we are holding in cities around the country with significant
South Asian populations. We have held two similar dialogues in Edison, NJ
and Philadelphia. Here is more information about the dialogues:

WHO: South Asians with an interest in increasing civic engagement in the
community; with an interest in civil and immigrant rights issues; with an
interest in coalition-building internally and with other groups

South Asian staff at organizations serving the South Asian
community in some manner

Representatives of cultural or civic organizations that have a
South Asian membership


WHEN: Saturday, July 9th, 2005
10AM-2PM

WHY: To begin a dialogue amongst one another about local and national
emerging issues affecting our community

To strategize around ways to more effectively build coalitions
locally and nationally

To meet others who are interested in increasing civic engagement
by South Asians

WHERE: Indo American Center [the library], 6328 N. California Avenue,
Chicago

We hope to have an interesting and productive discussion on July 9th! Please

**We are also looking for organizational cosponsors for the SAALT Exchange
