International Seminar in Dhaka on Upstream Water Withdrawal- on 4-5 January 2006

An International Seminar will be held in Dhaka, Bangladesh on 4-5 January 2006, Organized by International Farakka Committee (IFC)- NY and IFC- Bangladesh.
IFC's call for Papers for the International Seminar.
The title of the seminar is,"Upstream Water Withdrawal: Disaster for Bangladesh"
Last date of the first call for papers: July 31, 2005
The theme:
In protest of and in Demand for the Cancellation of 'Indian River-link Project and Upstream Water Withdrawal' which is under going in implementation process in India with a Motive to Convert Green Bangladesh into a Desert by withdrawing upstream Water from all 55 Common Rivers flowing through India and Bangladesh: from the Ganges, the Brahmaputra and other tributaries and distributaries (go to map)-
As Indian River-link Project is already under progress of implementation, so, recently on 4 March 2005 more than 5,00,000 people of Bangladesh gathered in a Protest Rally at Chilmari Bandar, Kurigram, Rangpur (go to picture). They are the mass people, irrespective of religion, cast, creed or political beliefs, protested such actions against humanity and vowed to protect their rivers from destruction from man-made calamity.
Pledges of 141 million people of Bangladesh to keep Bangladesh rivers' water to flow, and to save Rivers from dying, it is the greatest National Interest!
