The presence of a top terror, wanted by RAB, at a meeting with Barisal City Mayor raised questions about ruling party leader's conviction to make the city free from criminals

Tuesday January 18 2005 13:17:17 PM BDT

Barisal Correspondent:The presence of a top terror, wanted by RAB, at a meeting with Barisal City Mayor raised questions about ruling party leader's conviction to make the city free from criminals.

Mashiul Alam Sentu, a JCD leader who has long been wanted by RAB for his criminal activities attended a function organised to celebrate the declaration of Barisal University, where City Mayor and BNP leader Advocate Mojibur Rahman Sarwar was the chief guest on Sunday.

Sentu, president of Barisal City JCD, VP of BCSU, attended and addressed the function on behalf of the students in presence of Advocate Majibur Rahman Sarwar MP, who is also in charge of the district to look after the law and order and development activities.
His presence made some participants upset who also raised the question of transparency of RAB activities in region.

RAB personnel were also present at the function along with other law-enforcing agencymen.

Sentu was wanted by Rapid Action Battalion for running a gang named Sentu-Bahini in the area, which was involved in extortion, toll collection, tender hijacking. He was in hiding until Sunday before appearing in public with the city mayor.
