155workers have lost their livesin garment factories fire incidents in 10 yrs

NARAYANGANJ, Jan 17:–A total of 155 workers have lost their lives in fire-related accidents in the export- oriented garment factories during the last ten yeas, former President of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) Kazi Moniruzzaman said here on Sunday, reports BSS.

He was addressing a function organised to pay compensation of Taka one lakh to each of the affected families of 22 fire victims of Shan Knitting and Processing Limited at Shaheed Zia Hall at Pathan Toli under Siddhirganj police station.

Commerce Minister Altaf Hossain Chowdhury was the chief guest at the function presided over by BKMEA president Fazlul Hoq.

It was also addressed by State Minister for Liberation War Affairs Prof. Rezaul Karim, Parliament members Mohammad Gias Uddin, Advocate Abul Kalam and Ataur Rehman Khan, BKMEA Vice President Habibur Rahman and District Ameer of Jamaat Islami Moulana Moinuddin Ahmed.
