Government faces contempt of court proceedings- Separation of judiciary

The government faces the contempt of court proceedings for violating its directives on separation of judiciary, reports The Supreme Court Saturday set Monday for hearing a contempt petition filed by Chowdhury Monir Uddin Mahfuz, chairman of Khulna and Barisal division labour court.(UNB)

Secretaries of Law, establishment and finance ministries were made respondents in the petition.Chamber Judge Tafazzal Islam, after a brief hearing on the matter moved by Barrister Tania Amir, passed the order for hearing the petition before the full court.
The government petition moved earlier seeking 18th extension for four months to implement the Supreme Court directives also comes up for hearing on Monday.
