The BUET Alumni Association (BUETAA) was established re­cently as society for all alumni of BUET and its predecessor institu­tions. The Association's major aim is to contribute to enhancing the quality of education and research in BUET and to promote the well-being of the alumni as well as stu­dents, says a Press release.

The BUET Alumni Association Council recently elected a Board with 30 Trustees. In addition, three ex-officio representatives, BUET (Bice Chancellor, Director of Students' Welfare, and President of the BUET Teachers' Association) are also members of the Board of Trustees.

The Board later elected an Executive Committee with Dr. Engir. Jamilur Reza Chowdhry as President, Dr. Engr. Toufiq M. Seraj as Vice President for Programmes and Development, Mr Mubasshar Hussain as Vice President for Liaison and Public Relations, Dr. Engr,.Sadiql Islam Bhuiyan as Executive Director, and Engr. An. Kazi Zahedul Hasan as Director for Finance and Treasurer, Engr. Hafizul Haque Babar as Director for Publications and Communication, and Dr. Engr. Fazlul Bari as Director for Member Services. The Association will have its Office at BUET Campus.

BUETAA's President Dr. Engr Jamulur Reza Chowdhury requests all alumni of BUET and predeces­sor institutions to become Members of BUETAA,. Non-alumni who are current or former Faculty members, members of the Syndicate or Academic Council of BUET or its predecessor institu­tions are eligible to become Associate Members of BUETAA, Membership application forms are available from the Office of Engr. Dr. Fazlul Bari, Director of Students' Welfare (DSW) Office, BUET, who is concurrently the Director for Member Services of BUETAA.
